Gourmets, critics, locals and casual diners alike will certainly recommend the many charms of Bel Mondo, and it seems to have more than its fair share. Before the main attraction of delightful, inspired dishes arrive from award-winning chef Andy Ball's kitchen, diners will certainly take a short while to embrace their surrounds.

A gentle contemporary chic is embodied by the expansive, high-ceiling dining room, all detailed with rustic wooden floors, beautiful furniture and playful elements which go some way to conveying the ethos of gastronomy which has cemented Bel Mondo's reputation as one of the rare gems of unpretentious fine dining in Australia.

As with all great restaurants, it is not simply one aspect which defines it. At Bel Mondo you can expect every nuance of your lunch or dinner to conspire to a great overall effect. The knowledgeable staff are renowned for their perfectly pitched service, which is not to suggest any kind of intrusion into a gently elegant and convivial meal, simply that they know what the food is about, just as they know the wonderful wine list.

A meal at Bel Mondo is all about bringing the elements of food, wine and people together. The rhythm of the meal is viewed as vital and the delight and bonhomie of customers is something of its raison d'ĂȘtre.
Although its takes various qualities to make a great restaurant, if the food isn't something special then the rest is all for nothing. Fear not, for Bel Mondo's chef has worked his way through some of the world's most respected kitchens, including a turn in a Daniel Boulud two Michelin star den of culinary magic. Chef Andy Ball brings his own creative flair to the menu.
It's a menu which changes to make the most of the finest seasonal and artisanal produce, so you can expect dishes which take their cue from Italy and the Mediterranean - though this is merely a clue to menus which are rather less fastidious and more playful and inspired. Any who know Chef Andy's food will know that his talent is considerable and his inspired touches are never for their own sake, but there to develop on layers of flavor and freshness.
While Bel Mondo is decidedly a restaurant and certainly not a functions venue, it does welcome special groups and happily invites parties of up to 12 to enjoy the a la carte menu. For parties of over 12 there are a variety of other options - all tempting.
With its widespread reputation for supplying charm, style, breezy chic and rewarding edibles, it's little wonder that this Sydney restaurant has become one of the most loved in the country.

Unlike many restaurants which inhabit the realm of relaxed fine dining, it won't break the bank to have a meal at Bel Mondo. There are always specials on the go, so you can venture out for a 2 course dinner from the a la carte menu for an exceptionally reasonable $49 per hungry eater.
